The first show I ever took my boys to was Barney. I still remember my middle son, who was about one standing in the aisles pointing at the stage repeating “Ba” over and over and then he decided to storm the stage and go meet the purple dinosaur. Luckily, I could still run faster than him.

Well, Barney is back for a birthday bash in a brand new, interactive, live stage concert, featuring more than 25 fun and upbeat sing-along tunes including favorites, such as “Mr. Knickerbocker”, “Dino Dance”, Baby Bop Hop” and “Rock ‘n Roll Star”. You’ll be singing and dancing in the aisles with your favorite purple dinosaur and his friends Baby Bop, BJ and Riff. It’s a fun filled show all about sharing, caring and friendship.

My boys couldn’t get enough of the Winter X-Games on ESPN last weekend. They also love the summer games. If you or your kids are Summer X fans, then you’ll love Nuclear Cowboyz, a freestyle motocross extravaganza that features some of the biggest names in the Summer X-Games.

The show is the story of two motorcycle tribes in a post-apocalyptic world fighting for world supremacy. The kids don’t care about that though, it’s the gravity defying aeriel feats of the riders mixed with the awesome light and pyrotechnic show. They even light a rider on fire and have him flip through the air! There’s really no show like it.

Who isn’t a hockey fan after watching the US Olympic team go into overtime against Canada. Not exactly the outcome we were looking for, but I’m sure it’s inspired more than a few kids to strap on skates, rollerblades, or just a pair of socks in the hallway.

If you’d like to see some real hockey action with the kids, your in luck. The Atlanta Thrashers have two more Kid’s Days this season (kids under 12 are free with a paying adult). One is on Sunday, March 7 and the other is March 14. The games are a kid friendly 5 pm.

I took my boys on Sunday to see the show and my 12 year-old pronounced it the best circus show he’d been to in the past three years! I like the combination of magic and traditional circus. I also like the All Access Preshow, but I must say, the word has gotten out, because it was very crowded the day we went. If you want to enjoy the pre-show on the floor, get there early. The ring by the curtain is the most crowded and is where the animals come out, but there are lots of fun things to do on the other side. I witnessed kids trying their luck at walking a tightrope and parents having a blast balancing on a giant ball, all at the other end of the floor.

The Circus is in town! I waited in the cold until midnight last night to see the Ringling Brothers and Barnum Bailey Circus train roll into town. I mean, how long does it take to go those last four miles! It was worth it (now that I’ve thawed). I met several great circus folks and got to see them unloading the elephants then walking them, holding tails, to their Atlanta home for the next two weeks. I’ll upload the video to the Field Trips with Sue facebook page. If you’d like to see it, check there later today. My day job is public relations and marketing. Ringling Bros. is one of my clients, so I’ve got a busy two weeks. I’ll also have access to a lot of circus fun. I’ll post the videos and pictures I take up on Facebook, so you can follow.

If your child is a sports fan, loves basketball or has pro sports aspirations, this is for you! The Hawks’ Saturday series of youth clinics and camps help ensure that young fans are not just spectators – but active players in the game. Each clinic offers the unique experience of training on the Hawks practice court at Philips Arena. With a 7:1 player to coach ratio to ensure individualized instruction, each clinic concentrates on specific fundamentals of the game. The program is lead by former Hawks guard Charlie Criss and the Atlnata Hawks Basketball Development team. The next Saturday clinic is scheduled for Saturday, January 3oth on the Hawks practice court. Each session will be separated by age (9 – 10:15 am: ages 7-10; 10:30 – 11:45: ages 11-14).
