I love to give and receive experiential gifts. The experience is something to look forward to after all the toys have been played with and forgotten, and the experience itself lasts a lifetime. However, an IOU isn’t too exciting to open. If you’re planning to give an experiential gift this holiday season, here are some ideas on ways to wrap an experiential gift to make it more exciting. Experiential Gifts are the best kind and we talked about several for the holiday season on CBS Better Mornings.
This morning on the Field Trips with Sue segment on CBS Better Mornings Atlanta we went shopping! Last Christmas, Santa brought my son an Xbox. The gift itself wasn’t all that unique, but Santa informed us of the present through a phone call from Michelle Duffy of Passports with Purpose during a hike up Kennesaw Mountain, rather than the usual down the chimney on Christmas Eve. You can’t imagine how excited I was to get the call that we had won! This year we’ve got another shot at the magic, and you do too, through Passports with Purpose, a fundraiser put on by travel bloggers around the world. Read on to find out how you can win some sweet gifts for a cause, like three days in the Coca-Cola Suite at the Omni CNN Center and a host of Atlanta area attractions, including a swim with whale sharks!

The Gwinnett Braves and the Atlanta Braves both have kids clubs that make a great holiday gift.
When is comes to holiday gifts, I like to give experiences rather than toys. With three boys, we already have an arsenal of weapons and an army of action figures. Our basement planet has seen galactic battles where Jedi are helped out by green army men, Harry Potter and a Rescue Hero police cruiser, all while Civilization plays on the big screen.
Rather than put together another gift guide of the hottest toys on the market, this guide features some of the hottest experiential presents, as well as ones that inspire travel and exploration. As nice as it is to open that toy or sweater, having something to look forward to after the hustle and bustle of the holidays are over is more exciting. Here are some gift ideas that keep giving even after the decorations have been put away.
