April brings strawberry season in Georgia
What: Stawberry Picking in Atlanta
Where: See locations below
When: Mid-April through Early June
When I was younger, the best part about April was my birthday. Now that I’m older (or maybe it’s just old), April means strawberry picking and tasting those deliciously sweet bits of heaven as you fill up your bucket. Here are a few tips for strawberry pickers and several locations for strawberry picking close to Atlanta. Be sure to call the farm before heading out to pick. Some farms get picked out or are closed for ripening on any given day, so it’s best to be sure before you go. Have a favorite place not on this list? Let us know in the comment section.

I’m a big believer in kids birthday parties. I’ve always loved planning them and it’s such a treat for the kids to have all their friends celebrate together. Normally I have my children’s birthday parties at our house. It’s a lot of work, and as anyone who has been around a large group of boys knows, it can be tough to keep them on task instead of wrestling each other or climbing over the table to get to the cake. Don’t laugh. I have had kids actual climb over the table for the cake.
Enter the Game Truck Party. This rolling event space comes to you, but keeps the party out of your house. Bonus, up to 20 kids can be entertained all at once.

Mini-land was one of my 13-year-old’s favorite parts of LEGOLAND Florida.
What: LEGOLAND Florida
Where: One LEGOLAND Way, WinterHaven, FL
When: LEGOLAND Florida is open 7 days a week, but may be closed on Tuesdays and Wednesdays during specific periods.
LEGOLAND Water Park re-opens for the season on March 9, 2013.
Cost: Online Prices begin at $64 for adults and $54 for kids
Visit Orlando’s Magic Card gives you a discount on admission to LEGOLAND and other Orlando dining and attractions.
After our trip to LEGOLAND Florida, I had a lot of people ask me if it was something that tweens and teens would enjoy. The park itself is geared toward those 12 and under, but tweens and young teens can have a good time, especially if they go with a younger sibling or friend. My 13 year-old was almost as excited as my 8 year-old to visit LEGOLAND, and although they enjoyed many of the same things, they also experienced the park a bit differently. Given more time to plan his own schedule, my teen would have spent more time in mini-land, Instagramming photos of mini cities. Here’s his thoughts on what to do at LEGOLAND Florida for tweens and teens.

On a long weekend in January, we visited LEGOLAND Florida. It was a highly anticipated visit for my 8-year-old. Before we left, he carefully chose mini-figures to trade with the staff members at the park. The evening before our visit, he picked up a brochure to begin mapping out our day. The morning of, he counted down the minutes until we left the hotel. A week after our visit, he still talks about how much fun he had. When I asked him to review LEGOLAND Florida, here’s what he said.

The High Museum of Art has lots of family friendly for Toddlers to Teens based on the latest exhibit Frida & Diego.
I know most folks have already had spring break, but ours starts on Friday. I can’t wait. I don’t have any big field trips planned, but I’m looking forward to a slower grind. I know after next week, it’s a mad dash to the end of school and our summer is already booked with lacrosse tournaments up and down the East coast. It will be nice to hang out with friends next week on the beach at St. Simons. I’ve gotten some great recommendations on things to do and places to eat from fans of Field Trips with Sue on Facebook. If you aren’t a fan, join now. I get some great ideas from the group.
If you’re looking for something to do here in Atlanta the next few weeks, the High Museum of Art has a terrific line up for families with kids from Toddlers to Teens. It’s all based on the latest exhibit Frida & Diego. Here’s a list of upcoming fun.

This mornings Field Trips with Sue segment on CBS Better Mornings focused on what to do in Atlanta with kids over the next few weeks. It was hard to narrow it down to just a few activities. We were talking on set about how awesome spring is in Atlanta and how there are so many things to do and just not enough hours in the day.

There are lots of fun family friendly events going on Downtown for the Final Four, even if you don’t have game tickets.
March Madness is in full swing and the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta is just a few short days away. Regardless of whether you have tickets for the games, there are a lot of fun basketball related activities for the whole family throughout the weekend. Here are five reasons to attend the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta with Kids:
1. The Harlem Globetrotters. Nuf said.
2. Championship college basketball games – FREE! Don’t have tickets for the Division I championship, consider watching the Division II and III championship games. It’s free.
3. Bracket Town Ultimate Final Four Fan Fest. 300,000 feet of family-friendly interactive sports related games. That’s all my boys need to hear.
4. Big Dance Concert Series. I love daytime music festivals and it’s a perfect time to introduce your kids to live music, without the cost because this festival is free.
5. Northwestern Mutual Road to the Final Four 5K Run. I’ve gotten into running lately and am looking for my first 5K. Besides, parking will be easier downtown this early in the morning and we can hit Bracket Town before it gets crowded.
Want more information on these events and other family friendly events taking place in Downtown for the NCAA Final Four in Atlanta, keep reading.
