What: A Dickens of a Christmas
Where: Southern Museum, Kennesaw, Ga.
When: Dec. 10, 2010 6 – 9 pm and Dec. 11, 2010 5 – 9 pm (the museum will be closed for normal business ours on these two days to prepare for the event)
Cost: $7.50 for adults, $5.50 children 4 – 12 and under three is FREE
Southern Museum is located in Kennesaw, Georgia and is a Smithsonian Institution affiliate,one of only four in Georgia. The Museum features collections of rare Civil War weapons, uniforms and other personal items; an exciting exhibit about The Great Locomotive Chase, including a short movie; and a full-scale replica of a locomotive factory that helped rebuild the South after the war. There is also an education center where kids can get hands-on with history.
For one weekend, Dec. 10-11, the museum will be transformed into the set of Charles Dicken’s A Christmas Carol. The program is presented as a tour through the Southern Museum. Scenes from the play are acted out in vignettes throughout the museum. Don’t miss Fezziwig’s party in the Glover Factory or the festive finale! Holiday treats will be given to all!
