Things to do in Atlanta with Kids: Yo Gabba Gabba! - Win Tickets

What: Yo Gabba Gabba! Live There’s a Party in My City!
Where: Fox Theatre
When: Sat., Oct. 23 and Sun., Oct. 24, 2010 at 2 pm and 5 pm
Cost: Tickets start at $28 (+fees) Or you can win tickets here to the 5 pm show on Oct. 23

The popular Nick Jr. show, Yo Gabba Gabbba  is coming to Atlanta as a live performance Oct. 23 and 24. On Oct. 24, Grammy Winner Zac Brown will join DJ Lance Rock and the rest of the Gabba Gang. Other special guests include a surprise Dancey Dance guest, and Hip-Hop legend Biz Markie who shows kids how to beat box with “Biz’s Beat of the Day.”

I have to admit, I haven’t seen this show and I have absolutely no idea what beat boxing is, so if you know, please tell me. Nothing like a show aimed at preschoolers to make you feel old and out-of-touch.

Although I may be stuck in the stone age, I know there are lots of Field Trips with Sue readers who would LOVE to see Yo Gabba Gabba! If you’re one of them and you’d like to win a family four pack, leave a comment below and tell me about the Dancey Dance guest or how you beat box or maybe just what is beat boxing? Remember these tickets are for the Sat. Oct. 23 5 pm show only.

Want extra chances to win?
Twitter: follow @suerodman and tweet “Yo Gabba Gabba is in town! For details or a chance to win tickets see @suerodman”
Facebook: “like” Field Trips with Sue and leave a comment on the wall. Again, tell me about Dancey Dance or the beat box thing.

We’ll announce the winners on Tues. Oct. 12

  • My 3.5 yr old son loves this show. And well I like it too. With songs like “Please Don’t Throw Things At Friends” what is not to love! They regularly have special celebrity guests…who the parents enjoy more than the kids. Beat Boxing is like rap beats made my the human mouth…like chicka chicka chicka boppa wow wow.

    Thanks for the chance!

  • I love the dancey dance guest on the show, my fave was Elijah Wood !!! Can’t wait to see who the surprise is in Atlanta!

  • Kevin L

I remember the dancey dance guest was Jack Black for one episode.

  • My 4 year old LOVES Yo Gabba Gabba! So much so that he’s invented his own beat boxing beat for his baby brother and likes to do it right into the baby monitor for everyone’s enjoyment. Hilarious.

  • Angie Appoo

Sean Kingston did a dancey dance we liked! Would love to go.
Entered on Facebook and Twitter as well

  • Hi, Sue! Found you through a friend on Twitter because Yo Gabba Gabba caught my eye. My 4 year old, Charlie, is a fan, but my 2 year old, Mallory, is OB.SESSED. It’s the cutest thing. We watch it at 5 pm and thanks to DJ Lance and the gang, I can cook dinner in peace while the kids have a dance party. ;) Our favorite episode is the Jack Black one…but all the dancey dances are great. Beat boxing is really silly rapping (spitting?) sounds you make with your mouth, only it’s kinda embarrasing, so I try to avoid it. The most inportant lesson we’ve learned from YGG is “Don’t Bite Your Friends”. Crucial life lessons here!
We’d love to be able to take the kids to the show! Thanks for the chance!

My three year old loves Yo Gabba Gabba. Her favorite is when Solange Knowles was a Dancey Dance guest. My favorite song is “Don’t bite your friends”

  • Elyse Pahwa

I think the beat boxing is amazing, and we’d love to see the show.

  • Maryam

Beat boxing is making musical rhythms with your mouth. If you use the iPhone, there’s an app it called Baby Beat Box. Check it out!

  • Lisa mcilvoy

    Love this crazy weird show!!!

  • Tara Nalley

We love to see who the dancey dance guests are! Hoping for tickets!

The Roots, of course…We lovely-lovely love my family!

  • Bernice B.

One of the Dancey Dance guests I really liked was Jack Black. I watch the show with my grandson.

  • Cicile

My four year old son and 2 year old nephew love Yo Gabba Gabba! Their favorite Dancey Dance guest was professional skateboarder Tony Hawk. Instead of dancing he showed the characters some skate tricks on a half pike ramp. They usually dance along with each Dancey Dance guest but this episode was a little different and they watched in awe! We would love to win tickets. :-)

  • Memory Calame

Sue, my 5 year old loves the beat boxing on Yo Gabba Gabba so much that I dusted off my old De La Soul CDs (from the 80s – yes I am old!)last week and put them on in the car for him. He listens so intently and sometimes he just laughs out loud because he likes it so much. He would love to see the show at the Fox!

  • Joanna S

Beat boxing is making drum like/cymbal like sounds with your mouth. My kids laugh when I try it.

  • Seeta Budhai

    Hi,

    Thanks Sue

  • Beth

Throwing my name in the hat. Although i am sure you aren’t using a hat. Just thought i would use an old reference there for you!

  • Dayla King

There’s a party in my tummy! Little ones love this show.

  • We love the whole gang and DJ Lance rock–rocks!!

  • We love the gang…. esp FOOFA!

  • Lisa Eidson

My kids love Yo Gabba Gabba! This show would be so much fun for them.

  • Kisha

My kids watch Yo Gabba Gabba every night, and I enjoy that one of the characters is one of my favorites Biz Markie!

  • Kartrina

My 21 month old enjoys the singing and dancing, but didn’t those characters use to appear on popsicle packaging. They look so familiar. Beatboxing – is when you use your mouth to make hip hop drum like sounds. It’s like pushing air out of your mouth and your lips rumble (roll). One of the members of the rap/ hip hop group ‘The Fat Boys’ popularized it. They called him the Human Beatbox.

  • Sharalynn Simmons

Who wouldn’t appreciate a man wearing a tight orange jumpsuit? Well, I certainly do. My favorite dancey-dance was when Elijah Wood came on the show…..that was classic. And beat-boxing is what Biz Markie did when he came on the show.

  • Stephanie G

My 22 mth old and 5 yr old love this show. My fav was when Jack Black was on for the whole show and not just the Dancy Dance :)

  • Jessica Marcassoli

This show makes me want to change the channel immediately…however, my 2 boys (2 & 4) LOVE it and would love to go see them!

  • Jessica Marcassoli

Left a post on facebook. Thanks!!

  • teri gibson

it’s like rave party meets puppet show…but it entertains the kids and us :) love it!

  • Jasmin Queen

The only way we can get my 3 year old to eat is to tell her the food wants to have a party in her tummy!! We also LOVE to dance.

  • Janice

Even I love watching Yo Gabba Gabba at our house. It just makes me laugh!! One of my favorite dancey dance guests was Jack Black. I think it is fun all the random guests that they get to come on that show! Thanks!

  • My son first started dancing when he was 1yo and it was to Yo Gabba Gabba. He started moving his arms like Brobee! It was so adorable and is now our favorite show :o )

  • Melissa witt

    Would love to go!

  • Johanna Lenahan

Sue, I tune this show out as much as I can on a daily basis! However, my daughter loves the beat boxing thing along with the Dancey Dance and it is kind of cute when she tries to do it ! I know she would love to see them :)
