Things to do in Atlanta | FREE and Cheap Summer Movies

Going to the movies is a great way to beat the summer heat. Unfortunately, with three kids, it gets expensive fast and I can’t resist the $7.50 popcorn which adds to the tab. If you don’t mind seeing an old favorite, or maybe waiting until a new release has been out a few weeks, there are lots of places in Atlanta to see FREE and cheap kid friendly movies this summer. Here’s a list of theaters that show G and PG rated shows. If you know others, tell us about it.

What: Regal Cinema’s FREE Family Film Festival
Where: See website for participating Regal Cinemas (participating theaters are only outside the Perimeter – Hey Regal, we have kids ITP too!)
When: 10 am every Tues. and Wed. through the Summer (see website for end date at your theater)
Cost: FREE

What: AMC Summer Movie Camp
Where: Participating AMC Theaters (Hey AMC, see random rant above about kids ITP.)
When: 10 am every Tues. all summer long
Cost: $1 All admission and concession proceeds benefit two AMC charities, Variety – The Children’s Charity and the Will Rogers Institute. 

What: Georgia Theatre Company Summer Series
Where: See website for participating Theaters
When: Tues. and Thurs. in June and July
Cost: $1.50 for the movie, $1.50 for a kids popcorn, $1.50 for a kids drink

What: The Picture Show at Merchants Walk
Where: Marietta, Ga.

Cost: $1.75 or less

What: Cinemark Movies
Where: Fayetteville, Ga.

Cost: $1.75 or less

What: A.M. Cinema
Where: Participating AMC Cinemas
When: Friday, Saturday, Sundays, and Holidays before 12 noon
Cost: $6
