Reading was never so profitable or so fun. There are several programs around Atlanta to reward your kids for reading. Here’s a short list to get you started.
Check it Out Reading from the Atlanta Spirit. Kids grades K-12 read five books and receive a bookmark and youth ticket to an Atlanta Hawks and Atlanta Thrashers game.
Barnes and Noble Summer Reading Program. Students in grades 1-6 read eight books and receive a FREE book from a pre-determined list.
Borders Summer Reading Program. Children 12 and under read 10 books and get one FREE from a pre-determined list.
Wren’s Nest Critter t-shirts. Read five Brer Rabbit stories, fill out this form and receive a Brer Fox, Brer Rabbit, Brer Terrapin or Brer Lion t-shirt. Read five more stories and earn another tee. Readtwenty stories total to collect all four! Don’t have any Brer Rabbit stories? Here, let’s get you some (and benefit the Wren’s Nest too).
Little Shop of Stories Summer Reading Program. This is an independent children’s bookstore in Decatur. The Challenge is to read 40 hours over the summer. Children recieve prizes for each 10 hours they read. At the end of the summer, there is a celebratory pizza party for those that reach the 40 hour goal.
There’s also a great list at Atlanta with Kid of local library programs where kids can earn various prizes for reading.
