Chastain Park pool is a less crowded alternative to the Piedmont Park pool. Although Piedmont has some cool features like a lazy river and whirlpool, Chastain Park has essentially three pools, a deep pool, lap pool and shallow end. The deep pool has a diving board on one side and on the other side is a swimming area, perfect for sharks and minnows. The lap pool has starting blocks and lanes and the shallow pool is a maximum of 3 ft. 6 in. in depth and has stairs across one entire end, perfect for the little guys.
There are lots of shady places to camp out and a snack bar for refreshments. Picnic tables next to the snack bar are a perfect place for a picnic lunch. The day we went it was cool. I thought this might affect the crowds, so I asked the lifeguard if normally it was more crowded, he said the weekends, especially Sunday are busy, but the video here is an average weekday.
