Five Free Kids Crafts, Free Kids Workshops and a Free Sports Clinic

It can be hard during the winter to keep kids busy, especially when it’s cold outside. Here are five retail establishments that offer free craft or workshop days. These are wonderful drop in programs that can fit into an already busy day. Know of another retail store that offers crafts, clinics or workshops? Leave a comment and let us know.

1. Home Depot Workshop - The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot sets aside a corner of the store for kids to hammer and glue a wooden craft. We’ve made treasure boxes, flower pots, fire engines, and airplanes to name a few. Kids get an apron and the craft they make all for free.
2. Lowes Build and Grow Workshop – On select Saturdays, Lowe’s offers kids a similar workshop to the Home Depot. Lowe’s provides all the materials, hammers and gives each child a kid sized apron. Visit the website for specific dates and projects.
3. Michaels Make and Take Crafts – Michaels Craft Stores offer free Make it and Take it Crafts in stores across the country.  Generally the program is on Saturday but the date and time change, so check the website.
4. Lakeshore Learning – Lakeshore Learning offers free crafts every Saturday from 11 – 3 pm for children ages 3 and up.
5. PGA Superstore Free Golf Clinics – PGA Tour Superstore offers Junior Golf clinics on Tuesday and Friday evenings each week. Kids ages 7 – 17 learn golf fundamentals, rules and etiquette. Sessions are split between two different levels. The first is the Mini-Tour for beginners and the Nationwide Tour for intermediate players. Don’t have clubs? That’s ok, PGA Superstore has demo clubs your little one can use.  Call before you go to make sure they have enough pros and students to continue with the clinic that week and get the exact time for your child’s level.
