The Piedmont Park Conservancy has done amazing things in Piedmont Park, making it a real jewel for the city. It’s a great place to just hang out, but there are also lots of terrific kids programs if you need a little more structure. This weekend is a kids cooking class on Saturday and a gardening program on Sunday.

During the cooking program, kids learn how to create easy and healthy meals using seasonal ingredients that are available at Piedmont Park’s Green Market. The program is free, but you do need to make a reservation by emailing Mary at mmoerlins@piedmontpark.org or calling 404-876-4024 ext. 326.

On Sunday, check out the Family Gardening Workshops and get your kids started eating their vegetables. Learn tips on everything from urban gardening to starting your own veggie plot. This is a monthly program that shows how and what to grow from spring to fall. Fall program dates are Sept. 27 and Oct. 25. To register for this program contact Holly at hhollingsworth@piedmontpark.org or call 404-876-4024 ext. 323. Just as a side note, we harvested our first tomato this week. I’m positive I was more excited than anyone.
