Field Trips with Sue is debuting a new feature this week called Inside Scoop. Inside Scoop is a series of questions with an attraction insider. This weekend, the Braves take on the Marlins in a series that could put them into post season play, so I asked Meagan Swindle with the Atlanta Braves to give us the Inside Scoop on special activities for kids.
1. What are some special activities during home games that kids would enjoy?
After every Friday night home game are the Publix Friday Night Fireworks. Every Sunday home game features alumni autograph sessions before the game and Kids Run the Bases after the game. Specials for this Sunday, August 23 include:
- Octane in the Outfield Car Show presented by AutoTrader Classics. The show features fans’ restored and classic automobiles. The cars will be on display from 8:30 am – 12 pm in the Turner Field Green Lot. Winning automobiles will be showcased in a drive around the field before the first pitch.
- Meet Braves alumni Javy Lopez before the game in Fan Plaza. Autograph signings begin at 11:30, followed by a Q&A with fans.
2. Where do kids go to run the bases after every Sunday game?
Hank Aaron Ramp, aisle 129
3. How can my kids get Braves autographs?
- Every Sunday Braves alumni sign autographs before the game in Fan Plaza. A schedule of participating players and times is announced prior to each Sunday home game.
- “Shop with the Braves” events that take place every month at Public Super Market stores around town. (Editor Note: This Saturday, Aug. 22 is one of those days) Atlanta Braves players greet fans and assist customers, bag groceries, assist in the deli, help prepare Publix samples, and sign autographs.
- Braves players also make regularly scheduled appearances at the Braves Clubhouse Store at the CNN Center. (Braves Clubhouse number is (404) 523-5854)
4. Is there a way my child can take the field with the players? Yes, through an auction that benefits Piedmont Hospital Cancer Wellness. The next auction is for the Sept. 19 game and will begin about two weeks before the game. Information will be available online closer to the game.
5. I missed the $1 tickets earlier this week, will you have more offers like that? SkyLine Seats are always available for $1. The tickets are available 2.5 hours before every game at the Turner Field Box Office. There are 186 seats and when they’re gone, they’re gone, so get there early. If it’s your birthday however, you can get in FREE. Visit www.braves.com/birthday for all the details. All fans are eligible, even if your birthday isn’t in the summer. (Editors Note: Want other good deal on tickets? See my previous post.)

its good and so great
This is excellent information. I wish I'd had something similar before we ran the bases at the MN Twins game. It was a lot of confusion.
I'm sure the Twins do similar things. The Braves have so many programs and promotions going on, I find it confusing. Hopefully this will help folks plan a trip.
