Where: Centennial Olympic Park
When: Last Show is Thursday, June 25, starts when it gets dark

Last week the boys and I went to Centennial Olympic Park for Screen on the Green, sponsored by Peachtree TV. We met Amelia Schaffner (aka Field Trip Mom) and her boys at the park. Check out Amelia’s blog. She has some fun field trips and fantastic photos of her adventures. Our evening was fun and great to meet an online friend in person.
This week is the last Screen on the Green for the 2009 season. The show is Ghostbusters. A great movie to see on the lawn. Here are some suggestions if you decide to go.
Park in a lot near the fountains entrance. This was the only entrance open for Screen on the Green. We parked down by the Children’s Museum and I had to lug all the stuff and keep track of the kids all the way to the top.
The movie starts at dark, which is about 9 pm. We got there at 7 and secured a spot. It was crowded, but it wasn’t uncomfortable. We ate our picnic, did the hokie pokie and the boys scored some swag from Peachtree TV. The fans that glowed Screen on the Green were perfect for a hot night, but the long sleeve black t-shirt was an interesting choice. Every kid, big and small, loves give-a-ways, so they were quite excited. Next time I might bring some cards too. The boys loved the movie; (Home Alone) and stuck it out til the end. The walk back to the car was long, but at least the cooler was lighter.
If you’ve been to Screen on the Green or other outdoor movies, let me know what you think. I’ve got the Harry Potter Series at Atlantic Station on my radar.
