What: Family Pass to Zoo Atlanta
Where: Any Atlanta Fulton County Library Branch
When: Whenever the pass isn’t already checked out
Cost: Free to check out with your library card
This is one of the golden finds that I had to read several times to believe. All Fulton County Library branches have a Family Pass to Zoo Atlanta for check out. That means while you’re at the library checking out books, you can check out a Family Pass to the Zoo too! There are limitations. The pass can only be checked out for 7 days once a year per family. It cannot be renewed and you can’t put a hold on it. Patrons need to bring the pass and their library receipt to the window at the Atlanta Zoo for admission for up to four people. Our library is the Northside Dr. branch and they recommend that you call first to see if they have the pass in. As you might expect, it’s a popular item.
I called last week and secured the pass. We presented our receipt to the ticket booth and got our tickets no problem. My kids love the zoo, but we had an extra special treat this time. The new Parakeet Adventure has opened. Honestly, I really had no desire to see this based on the billboards, but holy cow, it was FABULOUS! We purchased seed sticks for $1 (a must) and went into the parakeet aviary. The birds came right up to us and ate the seeds off of the sticks on our hands. It was great! The boys said it was a little scary as the birds sometimes practically flew into you. I ducked one time and did have a few flashes of Alfred Hitchcock’s The Birds. All in all, it was really fun. Here’s a bit of our adventure.
