If you’re like me and you love to camp, but aren’t comfortable planning a camping trip, try the Chattahoochee Nature Center‘s Backyard Campout. We did this two years ago when it was in conjunction with the Great American Campout. It was a blast. We roasted mashmallows, made smores, sang songs around the fire, chased fire flies, stargazed, stayed up too late, slept on very hard ground and made a couple new friends. The best part was getting to see the center at night. (Well that and the easily accessible and clean bathrooms with running water and dry toilet paper.)
You bring a tent, sleeping bags and your dinner. The Nature Center provides the smores, fire and facilities. The year we went it got crowded, so get there early to secure yourself a good spot.
