If you have children, chances are you’ve been to Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta (CHOA), but you may not be familiar with the FREINDS groups. CHOA has 30 Community FRIENDS groups that support Children’s through volunteer service, fundraising events, and special service projects. This event is a fundraiser for the Northside FRIENDS.

The fun fair booths open at 5:30 pm and include: sack obstacle course, corn hole, tattoo/fingernail painting, face painting, cookie decorating, cake walk, pet rocks, motorized cars, jump houses and silent auction table. You can also purchase dinner on site from Chick-fil-A. If your kids can make it, stay for the cartoon and movie under the stars. If you haven’t seen it, Madacascar 2 is a scream. King Julian is my favorite.

We are so lucky to have such a wonderful hospital like Children’s so close. I can’t count the number of times I’ve called the nurse line in the middle of the night. My oldest had double hernia surgery at Children’s when he was 8 weeks old. A wonderful nurse searched the hospital for Nuk nipples for his bottle because he wouldn’t take the standard hospital ones. They made it a point to come in after the doctor and explain in layman terms (to a scared, clueless, sleep deprived, neurotic, first-time mom) what the doctor had said, and assure me that if it were their child, he’d be the one they wanted operating.

Got a CHOA story? Tell me about it in the comments section.
