Build a RaceTrack to Take Home

What: Home Depot Kid’s Workshop (includes a kid’s size Home Depot apron, craft kit you build onsite, certificate and pin)
When: First Saturday of Every Month, 9 – 12 pm
Where: Any Home Depot Store
Cost: FREE

The first Saturday of every month, Home Depot sets aside a corner of the store for kids to hammer and glue a wooden craft. We’ve made treasure boxes, flower pots, fire engines, and airplanes to name a few. My kids have always loved coming home and painting their projects. The stores all do the same kit, so it doesn’t matter where you go. The difficulty of the kit generally depends on whether or not my husband goes with me. The harder the kit, you can be sure he’s busy. Seriously, if you’re child can hammer a nail, they’ll have fun.

March 7, the Home Depot at Lindbergh is having an extravaganza in addition to the regular workshop. They’ll have a firetruck, Sparkey the fire dog, police officers, Homer, demonstrations and giveaways. The craft that day is a racetrack, which looks way cool. The Lindbergh store also hosts scout groups and will go off site with the workshop, you just need to call. Ask for Michael Mathie the operations manager.

My kids had a great time at Home Depot and they are not even very good with the hammer. Not only did we build a race track we were also given free tomato plants and flowers. Now we have another fun project to complete at home.
Thanks for all of the great ideas. Do you know anything about Dinos Live at Fernbank?

Thanks for the comment Kim. I have not seen the Dinos Live at Fernbank, but will let you know if I find a good deal on it.
