I didn’t believe it was true when I read that Callaway Gardens was free in Atlanta on the Cheap, but I called to confirm and it’s true! What a great find, just in time for the President’s Day holiday on Monday. I plan to go, so if you are interested in meeting, let me know.

Although there isn’t much in bloom right now, there is plenty to do around Callaway’s 13,000 acres. The butterfly center is always a big hit. If you can keep still long enough, a butterfly is sure to land on you. There is a bird of prey show at 12:30 each day. A log cabin and chapel on a lake that are fun to explore. And of course there are tons of nature trails and bike paths. The Discovery Center has an informational kiosk, film titled “Time & the Gardens” depicting the evolution of Callaway, and a cafe.
